Greetings and Salutations
Hello
Forgive me as I exclaim with some trepidation here.
First Post !
I'm finally getting around to posting my first entry here.
I initially considered setting myself up a home-brew Wordpress server but changed my mind when I took into consideration that the machine would have to sit there and run 24x7. I can't afford to invest in any hosted service either.
The system I run as a server tends to get the occasional switch on when I need to acquire the latest episodes of Heroes or 24 from the interweb. It also hosts my iTunes music library so I occasionally have to plug the iPhone into it for a sync now and then.
I've just clocked off from a day on the phone. My company has me, at least once a week, taking calls and logging requests on the front lines. I'm usually found working at a unit flying from one task to the other.
To be honest I'm not fond of working front line. I'm more of a problem solver than a problem taker however I do understand the idea that bolstering the front line with more of us knowledgeable tech types does indeed improve things there.
On with the here I am who am I spiel then.
I'm a thirty-something single male from the South East here in the United Kingdom and I work technical support for a national office stationery suppliers and have done so since 1994. I was once married and was joyously bestowed a beautiful Daughter as a result. She is the awesome apple of my eye and continues to amaze me regularly :)
I stumbled across LiveJournal or LJ just the other day after searching the iTunes App store for a decent blogging application. I found the following App and I could see that is was full featured so decided to do a little research and found that LJ was community driven which was something that appealed to me so I signed up.
I've yet to make a post from it but I may get the opportunity tomorrow as I am on the road bound for Birmingham.
I'm currently running with the Plus subscription and may upgrade if all goes well here.
Tiring now and need to chill before bedtime. To that end I'm gonna try and relax with some Jack Daniels and maybe some Lord of the Rings Online. Any UK based Kinships out there want to enlist a low level Hobbit Hunter then please feel free to PM me. I really want to get into LOTRO before this 2 year itch to get back into WoW resurfaces.
Cheerio
Dave
